Title: Improvising a mathematical crochet course for beginners

Abstract: Inspired by the annular hyperbolic paper models of Thurston, Daina Taimina created in 1996 the first annular hyperbolic crochet model and later popularised the activity. I learned about the possibility of crocheting mathematical objects during the founding of Hegl. I will talk to you about two projects suitable for beginners: the Möbius strip and the annular hyperbolic coral.

Abstract: For this special event, the HEGL Community Seminar welcomes the students of the WS 2023-24 Illustrating Mathematics Seminar as well as those currently enrolled in a Praktikum.
